In 2015, my family went to Hawaii for a vacation. When we were at the airport, my son Alan, an avid longboarder, spotted a passenger struggling to carry a massive 36 inch longboard into the aircraft. I was an engineer by training and that intrigued me to come up with a solution. With Alan, we came up the idea of a folding longboard and after months prototyping and redesigning, we had a workable version. We ran a successful Kickstarter campaign with a lot enthusiastic fans at Dec. 2016. Later, we garnered the attention of famous youtuber Casey Neistat, who has 10m followers. He gave us a very positive, non-sponsored review on BoardUp and we became what we are today.
